Graduate Research Assistant

UBC Clean Energy Research Centre · SAFs, engine emissions, model validation
  • Gaseous emissions and CRN validation. JetCat P200-SX thermodynamic and emissions data for an RQL reactor network; outlet temperature, CO₂ and CO within 4.5%, NOₓ overpredicted about 1.8× (Jet A-1). Turbo Expo 2026; accepted in JEGTP.
  • Particle instrumentation. Integrated an SMPS and catalytic stripper, then a nano-DMA/CPC chain for Jet A-1 and FT-SPK; size-dependent line and stripper-loss corrections for GPPS, CICS and ETH outputs.
  • Engine-scale comparison. Max-load combustor-inlet state within ≈16 K and 24 kPa of the V2500 at idle (selected comparison point); nvPM geometric mean diameter of 8.6 nm at max load. March 2026 campaign: FT-SPK used 8.5%, 6.5%, 5.0% more fuel by volume at 80, 90, 100% corrected speed, with ≈1.5% lower mass-specific consumption at max load.
  • P220-RXi and program coordination. Leading instrumentation of a new JetCat P220-RXi; coordinating UBC work for JET-CALF, SCALE-SAF and VLAME with TU Braunschweig, Tampere, Sunchon National University, NRC and Boeing.
May – Aug 2025

Undergraduate Research Assistant

UBC CERC · Micro-turbojet facility development
  • Commissioned the original instrumented P200-SX facility: telemetry, thermodynamic and performance measurement, initial exhaust system.
  • Integrated an ECOM J2KN Pro plus 2B Technologies NOₓ, Teledyne API T300U CO and LI-COR LI-850 CO₂ analysers; coordinated Jet A-1 and FT-SPK procurement through TU Braunschweig.
  • Verified ventilation and CO-alarm response, designed the initial exhaust ducting, wrote the first engine-test SOP.
